worked the christian dior party last night, bartending (!) and it was great. i had heard about this from friends who knew that dior wanted rocker boy types to work a party. i had to go to this ridiculous casting thing where i had to tell how much i weighed and got my picture taken. got there around 7 and stayed until 4. some of the people looked awful. they were obviously models but had spiked hair and like, safety pinned motley crue t shirts. but some of the guys were really hot. the girls, eh..
some kids were assigned to bartend, barback, coat check, or carry around a pale to collect bottles. "we don't believe in trays! this is an industrial party!" ..please.
there were 3 bars set up; one was this stage with kids on it taking drink orders, and 2 on the side, where i worked. the place was a huge warehouse in chelsea, by the way. luckily, all we served was champagne, heineken, red bull, water, coke, and diet coke. the champagne had a cork in it which was really hard to open so all the bartenders left with about 4 painful blisters on their hands. we got tips, too after we started to leave cash on the table for people to see (this was started by carlos of interpol who demanded we take a tip! good man, carlos.)
so it went really well and smooth and i look over and see
vincent gallo! ..i could've just died, he was so dreamy in his fur parka and v neck sweater with a tie under it. what?
anyway, around midnight sonic youth took the stage! and did a whole set. it was amazing. our bar was to the side of the stage and i left for a while to watch them and drink champagne.
around 3 we started to break down and get everything ready to go home. there were tons of left over drinks and the head guy is just like, take all you can. so i said fuck it and got a huge garbage bag and took as much as i could. my fridge is now stock full of heinekens and little bottles of diet coke and coke.

tuesday night i went and saw tv on the radio and liars. i had heard rumors that the yeah yeah yeahs might play, so i was pretty "jazzed" to see them for the first time since they had cancelled the chapel hill show that i was planning to see almost a year ago.
what a let down it was.
ok, so the YYYs did play, but it was 75 percent new material and y control and maps. i mean, i'm happy to hear new material and all, but most of it was pretty down tempo stuff and kind of took my energy down..i almost get the impression she was making the set a little downtrodden so as to not take the spotlight away from her lover boy angus of liars, who she could NOT stop ranting about like a mad cat lady on stage. love has made her soft..
here are some pictures stolen from someone that my girlfriend stole.
here are pictures of the show from aminorintrusion who seemed to enjoy the show more than us. ____________________________________________________________________

last night i saw the much hyped passion of the christ, which is the most violent gruesome film i've ever seen, and i hope it's the same for anyone else. i don't know what psycho mel gibson was trying to convey, but i wish it had gotten an nc-17 rating because i know people from my hometown (charlotte, nc) will be taking their church groups and kids to this and they just DON'T need to see this. it isn't enlightening, it's not spiritual, and it's not inspiring. it's a gory unnecsary look into the last days of christ's life. don't get me wrong, you should go see it though..i was interested the whole time regardless.

holy shit this is the best movie ever.

go see it as you can, if you can. it's been playing in new york for about a year in the same theatre, and i missed it. they just started playing it again and i already wanna go see it for the 2nd time. it was one of those movies that's so moving that you don't want to speak or look at your friends while you watch it. i saw it with ML and i was relieved that she didn't look over at me during certain parts. ( i later learned that it was because she was reading the subtitles) it's beautiful and haunting and all that stuff that tons of other critics have called it. i don't want to tell anything about a plot because i went in not knowing anything about it and i think that's the way you should see this movie.

i've had 2 nosebleeds in the last 2 days. so i googled the causes of course.
Causes Certainly the most common reasons for nosebleeds include anything that causes the inside lining of the nose to become overly dry or inflamed. Therefore, nosebleeds are a frequent problem in hot, dry climates, as well as in the winter in cold climates, when buildings are overheated with very dry air. Upper respiratory infections, sinusitis and allergies can increase the likelihood of a nosebleed. Injuries to the nose and/or sinuses (including fractures), over-zealous nose picking and exposure to dangerously increased pressures (barotrauma) during scuba diving or flying can all lead to nosebleeds. A foreign object in the nose can cause nosebleeds, as can nasal polyps, tumors within the nose or sinuses, abnormalities of the blood vessels (as in the syndrome called Osler-Weber-Rendu disease) or aneurysms (thin-walled, ballooning areas of arteries).
"over-zealous" picking!??
either way, i'm sure it's because of the fucking sauna that is this apartment. we have no control over the heat so it's always burning up in here. i have to open a window when it's 40 degrees outside when i sleep just to be able to cool down a little.
